Dear Colleagues,
As I began my tenure as Chair of the World Federation, I humbly offered you my advocacy, my passion and my voice, as together we committed to the extraordinary opportunity ahead – an opportunity to empower and improve the lives of millions of people around the world.
You may recall that my personal priority for this three-year term as the WFDSA Chairman is to dramatically elevate our industry-wide focus on ethics. A company with a bad reputation can harm the entire industry and it can take years to mitigate the negative impact caused by such a company. Hence, our industry is defined by the negatives that harm us rather then by the extraordinarily positive work we do.
It’s crystal clear that we can no longer tolerate the action of companies that do not, at all times, and in all countries adhere to the highest level of ethical conduct This is what I call a zero tolerance policy and this is the policy to which we must be committed from this time forward.
But in order to implement this policy and more importantly, to succeed in it, I need your pledge that you will lend your full support and commitment to this burning platform of our industry.
As part of this effort, I am pleased to unveil to you the new WFDSA Global Ethics Toolkit which includes the Code of Ethics Award Recognition program that will provide special recognition to DSAs and their member companies for their efforts in promoting and communicating the Code regularly to internal as well as external audiences. I believe the accompanying Ethics Toolkit will help you in your efforts to raise the bar on ethics and to promote this critical initiative.
With common cause and unified purpose – and with the passion we all share for the work we do – I am confident that together, we will shape an even more exciting future for this industry we love!
